The world seemed to vibrate with a frenetic energy that he couldn’t match. He sat at his desk, staring blankly at the screen, the cursor blinking like a mocking metronome. He watched Sarah interact with the clients, her energy and charm effortlessly winning them over. He felt a pang of something close to envy. He had spent years honing his skills, pouring his heart and soul into his work, only to feel like he was running in place. Now he just felt drained.
